No one in Zanny’s life has ever put her first. So when she marries her best friend’s brother, to her it isn’t a question of if the marriage will fail but when. After all, if her own parents couldn’t be bothered to stick around and love her, why should she expect anything more from anyone else?

To John Campbell, the idea of marriage seemed simple enough. Find a girl he loved (check), marry her (check), have adorable babies (check and check), and live happily ever after… So when Zanny walks in on him being kissed by a coworker, he expects they’ll be able to sort things out quickly enough once he explains. After all, he loves Zanny, and she loves him, right?

Only, it’s not that simple at all. Zanny is convinced their marriage is over. For a while now, she’s been aware that John has secrets. As far as she’s concerned, the kiss was just the proof she needed that nothing in their marriage is what it seems.
